The Minerva Fast Track group led by Dr. Ulrike Kraft in the Department of Molecular Electronics at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz is looking for a highly motivated and curiosity-driven PhD student with interest in the chemistry and physics of organic electronic materials and devices.
At the interface of materials science, physics and chemistry, we are interested in charge transport, charge trapping and electronic interfaces in organic transistors, their operational and environmental stability as well as the addition of functional additives (e.g. molecular switches) into polymer devices to incorporate additional functionalities and address current and future challenges in low-cost and flexible electronics.
The successful candidate will conduct cutting edge research at the interface of physics, chemistry, and materials science. As part of the Department of Molecular Electronics led by Prof. Paul Blom, the successful candidate will benefit from a stimulating research environment in a diverse and interdisciplinary team with access to state-of-the–art facilities.
We are looking for a highly motivated student with experimental background and a Master’s degree (or equivalent) either in physics, materials science, chemistry, polymer science or related fields. Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory. Previous experience with organic electronic materials, device fabrication and characterization is an advantage.
