Job starting date: September, 2019

Mission (scientific project): This project, carried out in collaboration with the Marine Station STARESO (Calvi) & and the Catholic University of the West (Angers), and aims to acquire a better knowledge of the occurrence, distribution and fate of emerging pollutants in Mediterranean and especially in port areas (Calvi, Ile Rousse, St Florent & Bastia). The candidate will conduct different actions to (i) estimate qualitatively and quantitatively the extent of the exposure of three Mediterranean invertebrate species, (ii) determine the impact of major chemical contaminants on organisms & by analyzing the risks in terms of human health (iii) propose solutions in consultation with professionals & port managers. It aims to quantify qualitatively and quantitatively the extent of exposure of organisms, (ii) to assess the impact of contaminants on bivalve species, (iii) to propose scenariiin accordance with the practices of local professional (dialogues, consultation and knowledge transfer with decision-managers). On the basis of recent studies of the LIENSs laboratory and in collaboration with the consortium researchers, the candidate will aim to study and follow, through a field approach, the improvement of the environmental quality & the limitation of the toxicity of the organic and inorganic chemical contaminants at selected sites (Port Areas and STARESO Reference Site).

Required profile: Applicants must have a PhD in marine biology and ecophysiology of bivalves, ability for independent research, an interest in interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations, and publications in peer reviewed journals. Demonstrated background in ecotoxicology techniques (organic pollutants) is essential, strong skills in biostatistic (R programmation). Interest in environmental and ecological issues & ability to work as a team member.
